Angel Di Maria agrees to join Juventus on a free transfer

Now released by Paris Saint-Germain, Angel Di Maria is closing in on joining Juventus on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Giovanni Albanese (via La Gazzetta dello Sport), the entourage of Angel Di Maria has contacted the representatives of Juventus in recent hours and sent positive signs regarding a potential deal for the Argentinian this summer.

The report understands that Di Maria has given the green light to complete the sought-after transfer after what was looking like a never-ending stalemate between the two parties.

Although the player now seems convinced, the transfer is not definitively closed as the involved parties are yet to agree to the final details.

Having put a salary package of €7 million per season, Juventus have matched the financial demands of the 34-year-old. However, the Italian club was more interested in offering him a two-year deal to exploit the tax benefits of the Growth Decree.

Benfica were keen on the veteran but chose to go for David Neres. As reported by Albanese, Barcelona have never come forward with great intensity but remain active in the background.

Now that the player has agreed to join Juventus, it will be easier to address the final details on the negotiation table in the coming days.
