Future of Konrad Laimer remains uncertain

Konrad Laimer’s RB Leipzig future remains uncertain after the Austria international informed the Bundesliga side he would not accept their latest contract extension offer, according to Kicker.

The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his contract but despite rejecting RB Leipzig’s latest proposal, has not informed the club that he wants to leave. Equally, Bayern Munich have not contract Leipzig about the Austrian.

Should Laimer leave this summer, RB Leipzig would rather not sell to Bayern Munich following the transfers of Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer last summer, whilst Julian Nagelsmann was also appointed as Bayern head coach.

With one-year remaining on Laimer’s current deal, RB Leipzig would command a fee around €25m-€30m.

Domenico Tedesco’s side announced the signing of Xaver Schlager (24) from Wolfsburg last week for a reported €12m and it was originally suggested that he would be a replacement for Laimer, but the former RB Salzburg midfielder comes in with the possibility that one of Tyler Adams or Amadou Haidara could leave.

As reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg on Friday, Nagelsmann is determined to sign Laimer, who played 41 games in all competitions last season as Leipzig lifted the DFB Pokal.
