Furious Rangers Fans Confront Stewart and Thelwell in Viral Airport Video

Rangers boss Danny Rohl’s Ibrox reign got off to an underwhelming start as his side suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brann in the Europa League on Thursday, and supporters showed their fury by confronting Gers chief executive Patrick Stewart and sporting director Kevin Thelwell when passing through the airport after the encounter.

The Glasgow giants’ latest setback means they are still pointless in the competition, having also been beaten by Genk and Sturm Graz while Russell Martin was still at the helm, and members of the fanbase decided enough was enough when they spotted club chiefs following the convincing loss in Norway.

A viral video has shown that furious Rangers supporters confronted Stewart and Thelwell in Bergen Airport as they prepared to travel back to Scotland a matter of hours after their heavy defeat to Brann on Thursday night, with raging fans making their opinions loud and clear.

Goals from Emil Kornvig, Jacob Sorensen and Noah Holm consigned the Gers to their third consecutive defeat in the Europa League, leaving them with an uphill battle to progress to the knockout phase after they have also made a disastrous start to their Scottish Premiership campaign.

Rangers are already 13 points adrift of top flight pacesetters Hearts, with the woeful form resulting in Martin ultimately paying the price when he was sacked earlier this month, and footage taken at Bergen Airport has highlighted that angry supporters targeted Stewart and Thelwell in the departure lounge.

Rohl was confirmed as the Gers’ new boss earlier this week, with the German tactician signing a two-and-a-half-year contract after he was pinpointed as the preferred candidate when Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat were out of reach, but the Glasgow-based heavyweights did not enjoy the new manager bounce they were looking for.

Following the defeat to Brann, the former Sheffield Wednesday chief said:

“We have to say the opponent was better. They deserved the win. They were more aggressive, they won more second balls.

“I think I saw a lot of where we are at the moment, what the reality is, but also it was very clear we have not so much time to change something, but I want to see again a step forward on Sunday and it means we have to win this game.

“I think there are reasons why we didn’t win so many games in the past. I think you saw this again. My job is to find a solution as soon as possible with this group.”
