Nobody doubted his technical ability, but physically, there has been a shift.
“I left (Spain) as a child. I arrived in Munich when I was 22-23 years old, and I’m coming back with more experience and experiences that make you grow as a player and a person,” Marc Roca tells Relevo.
“I’m a much more complete player, more physical, I’ve won more duels. Before I was more positional, now I cover more distance.
“On a physical level, it’s obvious. I went to Germany weighing 73 kilos, now I’m at 81-82… that’s a lot of kilos of muscle. I’m coming back faster, stronger… I’m a more dynamic player, and that has helped me a lot. But not only physically, but also from a footballing point of view, when it comes to understanding the game, choosing the best option, knowing what the team needs, I’ve grown a lot in that aspect.”
Bayern Munich and Leeds… what did you think when you got the call from Betis?
“Obviously it’s always positive to return home. I came through in La Liga. I started my career here and after three years abroad, between Germany and England, I really wanted to come to Betis. I’m very happy and very comfortable on the pitch.”
