German broadcaster Sport1 and American news outlet CBS Sports report that the race for Bayern defender Chris Richards is getting quite crowded.
If reports emerging from both sides of the pond end up proving true, German champions FC Bayern München may end up accruing more than the stated price tag of €15 million of USMNT defender Chris Richards. Evidently, clubs from both France and Spain join two EPL sides and former loan club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in throwing their hat in the ring for the 22-year-old Alabama native’s services.
Germany’s Sport1 and America’s CBS Sports are now claiming that the youngster’s suitors have expanded. As of yet, the only named club is Spain’s Valencia C.F. is the only named party in reports from either source. CBS claims that several unnamed French sides also have the player on their ledger.
A departure for Richards seems highly likely in any case. Most German footballing media sources confidently claim that FCB trainer Julian Nagelsmann does not envision a role for Richards above that of a back-up in his squad planning. Richards remains under contract with Bayern through 2025. His current price tag constitutes a doubling of his estimated market value.
