Eintracht Frankfurt’s list of absentees has worsened after the club confirmed that Ansgar Knauff will be unavailable for the time being.
According to the short online statement, the 24-year-old underwent abdominal surgery yesterday, Monday 16 February.
As a result, the versatile attacker has been ruled out until further notice – Frankfurt wished him a speedy recovery in the process.
The news comes as a blow to Albert Riera who may also be without Rasmus Kristensen after a potentially season-ending ligament injury.
Concerns over Arnaud Kalimuendo’s fitness are also present after he picked up a knock in the Hessen club’s 3-0 win over Mönchengladbach.
In total this Bundesliga campaign, former-BVB talent Knauff has made 20 appearances and contributed 4 goals in that period.
With a trip to take on Bayern Munich at 15:30 CET this Saturday, Frankfurt could be without a host of defensive and attacking personnel.
