Frankfurt have agreed on terms with PSV to sign former Augsburg left-back Philipp Max on loan for the rest of the season. The transfer will likely be announced on deadline day with a purchase option included in the deal, per Sky.
Max is no longer a consistent starter in the Netherlands and is open to a new club. Frankfurt desperately need some fresh legs at left-back with Juventus loanee Luca Pellegrini injured and Christopher Lenz’s lengthy injury history.
Dortmund loanee Ansgar Knauff has been forced to play on the left, but Frankfurt’s full-back depth is now even thinner with Junior Dina Ebimbe’s serious injury.
Sporting Director Markus Krösche reportedly pushed hard to get this deal across the line. Max last played in the Bundesliga in 2015.
