Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed this afternoon that Jonathan Burkardt will be out until further notice.
The 25-year-old suffered a calf muscle injury during the Hessen club’s 3-0 defeat to Atalanta Bergamo on Wednesday night.
Burkardt was in the starting lineup but had to be replaced by Dino Toppmöller on 59 minutes when he sustained the blow.
Jean-Matteo Bahoya was called upon by Frankfurt’s head coach to replace the German marksman.
His withdrawal appeared to coincide with the turning point in the game’s momentum as the Serie A club scored three goals in 5 minutes.
Frankfurt have wished Burkardt a speedy recovery and will likely offer a more detailed update on how long he will be sidelined for.
