Schalke 04 head coach Frank Kramer has the backing of the club’s sporting director Peter Knäbel despite a weak start to the campaign, according to Kicker.
Kramer’s side are without a win from their first five Bundesliga matches and are hovering just outside the relegation places. Despite this, Knäbel has publicly backed the head coach and his staff this week.
“I have the feeling that the team is growing more and more into a unit, which is also thanks to our head coach, although I have the impression that our entire staff complement each other perfectly,” explained Knäbel.
He continued: “[Kramer] brings the sporting content across really well and cultivates a good relationship with people.”
This weekend kickstarts back-to-back Revierderbies as they host winless Bochum and then Borussia Dortmund on match day 7.
Knäbel’s comments should put Kramer and his side at ease before this early season six-pointer. For Bochum, many people believe that head coach Thomas Reis could be sacked if he fails to collect his side’s first point of the season this weekend.
