Speaking on RMC Sport programme Rothen S’enflamme, the lawyer of Frank McCourt, the owner of Olympique de Marseille, revealed that an approach has been made to buy the French club.
Didier Poulmaire, McCourt’s lawyer, who advised the American in the purchase of OM back in 2016, has fuelled rumours of the club’s sale. Rumours that McCourt wants to sell Les Phocéens are incessant, even if the American frequently denies the claims. However, there is seemingly no shortage of interest.
Rumours of Saudi interest in Marseille continue to swirl
Saudi Arabia are reportedly interested in purchasing OM, whilst in December, Julien Fournier revealed that he had been approached by someone who was interested in buying the Ligue 1 giants. Speaking in January, Saudi Official Prince Abdullah Saad Abdulaziz Al Saud told Carré that investing in Marseille, or AS Monaco is “maybe a good investment”.
Poulmaire now reveals having been approached regarding the sale of Marseille. “I’ve been approached, yes. I am bound by professional secrecy so unfortunately, I can’t talk to you about it. There is always noise”, said the lawyer, who said that he hasn’t been contacted more often than usual regarding the sale of OM.
