Germany’s main sporting tabloid reports that at least four Bundesliga clubs are interested in bringing HSV striker Robert Glatzel back to the top flight.
Two clubs are named, including the 28-year-old’s former loan club of Mainz.

Following a brief top tier audition on loan at FSV Mainz 05 during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, former Cardiff City striker Robert Glatzel opted to take a step down and sign with 2. Bundesliga side Hamburger SV last season. The move led to a spectacular season for the Munich native.
Glatzel netted 22 league goals and recorded four assists in the league for die Rothosen. That proved good enough for second-place in the second-division scoring race. Only Schalke’s Simon Terodde scored more league tallies in the campaign just completed.
Understandably enough, there are now top tier sides interested in procuring the 28-year-old’s services. At least, this is the case if a report in Sport Bild is to be believed. The German tabloid claims that at least four Bundesliga clubs maintain Glaztel in their sights. Union Berlin and Mainz are listed.
Glatzel’s time with Bio Svensson’s Pfälzer (two goals and one assist in 13–mostly relief–appearances) did demonstrate that the former Heidenheim man can make his contributions to a top tier roster. Mainz sporting CEO Christian Heidel recently declared himself open to bringing Glatzel back.
Heidel nevertheless also noted that his Rheinhessen were in for a quieter transfer window and would not be making many (if any) moves in the coming weeks. The club’s long-time administrator also specifically stated that he expected Glatzel to remain with the HSV.
Build reports that clubs willing to bring Glatzel in would have to pull a potentially expensive exit clause in his current contract. Given that (with five goals in the Pokal) Glatzel managed a very impressive 27 tallies across all competitions, however, some may consider it a worthwhile investment.
