In a recent report from The Sun, it was stated that former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has offered to play for Getafe which comes as a huge blow to Cardiff City. It has also been mentioned that Bale’s boyhood club were eager to get him on board but in a surprising turn of events, Getafe have emerged as a possible destination.
Bale’s Impressive Career For Real Madrid
The Welshman has banged in a total of 106 goals and produced 67 assists over 258 matches across all competitions throughout his career for Los Blancos. His cabinet boasts several silverware over a hugely successful career that brought him five Champions League winner’s medals, three La Liga titles and four FIFA Club World Cup trophies.
The 32-year-old, despite being plagued by injuries, managed to produce some impressive displays last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. He made the most out of his appearances scoring 11 goals and creating two assists over 20 matches in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Should The Former Real Madrid Winger Move To Getafe?
The Wales international failed to be a regular under Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI this season but Bale’s impressive numbers during his loan spell at Tottenham make it evident that the player can still add depth and quality to his squad. The Welshman can still be a goal threat in the attacking third causing trouble for the opposition with his pace and ball skills.
We’ve seen many veteran players performing well in their 30s, and at 32, Bale’s career is far from over and he could manage to be in top shape for a season or two. He could strengthen Getafe’s attack with his creativity and add more balance to the frontline.
With Wales qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it is plausible to say that Gareth Bale can still play a high level of football possibly helping Getafe climb the ranks in the La Liga table. Getafe Club President Sanchez is yet to make a decision over his transfer but the Spanish side should step up its efforts in acquiring him.
