L’Équipe have revealed that former Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward is set to join Eagle Football Group, the owners of Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais.
Eagle Football Group are set to go on the Stock Exchange in the USA and ahead of that, the company, the owners of Lyon, are looking to strengthen behind the scenes. As a result, John Textor is set to recruit Woodward, who left Manchester United back in 2022. Prior to his departure, he spent 17 years at the Premier League side and before becoming CEO, had occupied the role of vice-president at the club.
Woodward would be brought into the administrative council at Eagle, who as well as owning Lyon, also have a minority stake in Premier League side Crystal Palace, a minority stake that Textor had been trying to sell. He would manage the relationship between Eagle and Wall Street, with the former set to go public, perhaps within the fortnight.
