Forget De Zerbi and Pochettino: Tottenham Eyeing Julian Nagelsmann

Tottenham are reportedly eyeing Julian Nagelsmann as their next manager, and he could be a better option than appointing Roberto De Zerbi or Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

Spurs are in the hunt for a new manager in the coming months after Thomas Frank was relieved of his duties following a disappointing few months. Igor Tudor was recently brought in to replace Frank, but the former Juventus boss has only been hired until the end of the 2025/2026 season.

A host of managers are already being linked with the job for the summer, and Tottenham now have the ideal opportunity to assess potential candidates thoroughly. Tudor might rapidly turn things around at Spurs and throw his hat into the ring for a potential chance at the permanent role, but it appears Tottenham are assessing other options as it stands.

Tottenham Must Hire Julian Nagelsmann

Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Germany manager Nagelsmann is being eyed as a possible permanent option for Tottenham in the summer. It’s claimed that landing Nagelsmann is considered highly ambitious, but it’s the type of move Tottenham need to be making if they want to go to the next level.

Nagelsmann is set to take charge of Germany at the upcoming World Cup, and although his contract runs until 2028, there’s no guarantee he will be in the hot seat come the summer if they struggle at the tournament.

The 38-year-old, described as a ‘genius’, is one of the most exciting up-and-coming managers in the game at the moment, and if Tottenham can secure his signature, he could be the perfect appointment.

To win a Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich at such a young age with minimal managerial experience was an incredible achievement, and Tottenham need to be going all out to bring him to the Premier League in the summer.

De Zerbi and Pochettino Negatives Explained

USMNT Pochettino

Of course, Pochettino and De Zerbi both have plenty of positives, but there are far from guaranteed wins. De Zerbi is a manager whose personality might not suit the Tottenham squad, while his style of play will be a huge shift from what they were playing under Frank.

Pochettino has been an ideal fit for Tottenham previously, but that was a long time ago, and there’s always a risk of going back to a previous manager. The 53-year-old was sacked by Spurs in 2019, rightly or wrongly, and when there is a whole pool of managers likely available this summer, there might be better options.
