Florentino Pérez reflected on Casemiro’s time at Real Madrid during the player’s farewell ceremony.
The 30-year-old is set to join Manchester United this week. In a speech transcribed by Marca, Los Blancos’ president reflected on Casemiro’s time at Real Madrid:
“Honestly, I never thought this day would come. I remember your arrival when you were just 20 years old. I will always remember your 20 extraordinary minutes in Dortmund that were key to winning La Décima. We have shared some of the most important moments of our lives. We are proud of your history with this shirt and this crest.”
“You have given everything. You have fought every game as if it were your last. The pressure is not easy here, but you have been able to cope with it and you have always shown your teammates the rebelliousness that is needed to face it. And you have been a father figure to the younger players. You are an example of commitment and values,” he stated.
Pérez also told Casemiro that he will always be welcomed back to the club with open arms:
“You will always be one of ours. When you return one day, we will remember these moments. Thank you Case, this is, and always will be, your home.”
