Sport Bild reports that Florian Wirtz, who is currently recovering from a long-term injury, is expected to be called up to Germany’s World Cup.

Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz has reason to be optimistic about making Germany’s World Cup squad, according to Sport Bild.
Wirtz hasn’t featured for Leverkusen since he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture back in March.
The 19-year-old only recently made his return to training and is scheduled to be able to train with his teammates on a regular basis in mid-October.
But even if Wirtz doesn’t get to play 90 minutes regularly ahead of the World Cup, Flick is planning to call the youngster up of he’s deemed fit enough, per the report.
Having made his debut for Germany in September 2021, Wirtz has four caps on his belt.
