Sport Bild recently reported that Thomas Müller has drawn interest from several clubs ahead of his expected departure from Bayern Munich this summer, naming Fiorentina as one of his suitors.
According to renowned Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A side have already reached out to the 35-year-old’s representative.
“There’s no deal, but I can confirm that Fiorentina called his agent to ask about the possibility of a move,” Di Marzio told wettfreunde.de.
“They wanted to know whether Müller would be interested in a move to Italy, as no Italian club can match the salary he currently earns at Bayern.”
Despite the financial compromise required to make the move happen, Fiorentina could still prove to be an appealing destination for Müller.
“Fiorentina is an ideal destination for former Bayern Munich players, just like Franck Ribéry or Mario Gomez,” Di Marzio said.
“They’ll try to pitch the idea to Müller: the freedom to play without pressure and enjoy a city that would embrace him.”
Müller, however, is not expected to make a decision on his future before the season is over.
