Fiorentina have grown desperate in their attempt to extend Vincenzo Italiano’s contract, with the former Spezia boss’ current terms ending in June 2023.
Today’s edition of La Nazione (via TuttoMercatoWeb) reveals that there will be a high-profile meeting between the members of Fiorentina and the club’s current manager on Wednesday.
The report understands that the club president Rocco Commisso will be present in the meeting along with Joe Barone, Daniele Pradè, Nicolas Burdisso, and Vincenzo Italiano.
The principal focus of the meeting will be on convincing the former Spezia gaffer to sign an extension with the Florence-based club. After that, there will be discussions about the club’s transfer strategies in the approaching summer transfer market.
As mentioned earlier, their current boss’ contract at Fiorentina expires next year. Under his guidance, La Viola finished seventh and subsequently acquired a spot in next season’s Europa Conference League play-offs with an underachieving squad.
Italiano’s bold style of coaching has already caught the eyes of several suitors across Europe, but Fiorentina want to keep hold of the Germany-born Italian at any cost.
In the meeting, Italiano will also ask for the president’s assurance regarding the futures of Nikola Milenkovic and Szymon Zurkowski. The manager likes both players and thus would like to have them at his disposal for the 2022/23 campaign.
