Twenty-one-year-old German American striker Maurice Malone of FC Augsburg may be headed for his third straight loan-year in German football’s lower division.
After spending a year at SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the 3. Liga and another campaign with 1. FC Heidenheim in the second division, Augsburg attacking prospect Maurice Malone may be poised for another loan out. The German-American dual heritage player–yet to make a top tier German footballing appearance–is reportedly a subject of interest at FC St. Pauli.
Germany’s Sky outfit reported on the interest of the Kiezkicker on Thursday. Malone’s development didn’t exactly proceed apace last season. After scoring 13 goals for Wiesbaden in the 2020/21 campaign, the Augsburg native managed just two league tallies with Heidenheim last year.
Another loan would certainly be contractually possible as the players current working papers with the Fuggerstädter run through 2024. The Hamburg-based FC. St Pauli have much work to do in terms of restocking their attack following multiple departures.
