La Liga giants Barcelona have opened up a clear lead in the race for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Friday provided a fresh insight into the situation.
The name of defender Tah has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last week.
This comes after reports surfaced in the Spanish media, pointing towards a fresh round of talks as having taken place between the Barcelona brass, and the German’s representatives.
Jijantes, in fact, went as far as to claim that:
‘The operation, after the aforementioned meeting, is practically completed and both parties are very happy.’
Barca sporting director subsequently moved to play down the situation, adamant that no such sit-down had in fact taken place.
But, as alluded to above, on Friday, the Portuguese’s claims have been refuted once more.
As per transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his official YouTube channel, the Camp Nou hierarchy did indeed meet with Pini Zahavi last week, to discuss the terms of a deal for Tah.
Not only that, but the talks proved to be of a productive nature, with Barcelona now considered by all involved to be ‘leading the race’ for the 28-year-old.
