According to L’Équipe, Lyon manager Fabio Grosso cancelled training on Tuesday after he accused one of his players of speaking to the press. This comes after Jerôme Rothen claimed on his RMC show, Rothen S’enflamme, that the former Frosinone boss’ job was already under threat after 3 defeats in 4 matches.
Rothen, a former PSG player, claimed that an “unnamed player” told him that Grosso was “one of the worst coaches he ever had” and “he alienated everyone”. The Italian coach did not take these comments well and interrogated his players before the start of training asking the culprit to denounce himself. Locked in the dressing room, after 30 minutes, no one spoke and the World Cup winner decided to cancel their afternoon training session.
A training session is still scheduled to go ahead on Wednesday morning at 10:30am local time. However, members of the club’s board have suggested that if no one owns up to speaking to Rothen they will release a joint press release stating that the majority of the players are still 100% behind the coach.
