According to Le Parisien, Luis Enrique has asked for a new experienced midfielder to be signed during the Winter transfer window. This is reportedly a bigger priority than signing a new left-back to cover for injury-prone Nuno Mendes (21).
The Spaniard’s request appeared following the outbreak of injuries in the club’s midfield department, as after Warren-Zaïre Emery (17) suffered an ankle injury back in mid-November, it is now Fabian Ruiz (27) who is to miss several games after dislocating his shoulder on the weekend against Le Havre.

Additionally, the Spanish coach will have to do without Korean midfielder Kang-In Lee (22), who will miss the start of the calendar year due to the Asian Cup. This leaves PSG midfield options rather slim, as Vitinha (23), Manuel Ugarte (22), Danilo Pereira (32), Carlos Soler (26) and Cher Ndour (19) are the only midfielders who will remain available throughout that whole period.
Enrique will be looking to sign a Champions League-proven player, who is in good shape and compatible with his current system, although no names have leaked so far.
