It is not yet clear what the future holds for Manchester City youngster Yan Couto as he impresses on loan at La Liga side Girona this season.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Fabrizio Romano explained that Man City’s loaned-out full-back is currently only focused on the rest of the season with Girona.
Responding to recent transfer rumours about Real Madrid being interested in Couto, Romano said: “Yan Couto – Despite reports about Real Madrid being interested in this Manchester City youngster, who is currently on loan at Girona, I have nothing on this so far – no concrete negotiations, talks or anything yet.
“His future will be decided at the end of the season, not now. Full focus is on Girona’s dream season now.”

City recently agreed a deal to bring Savio back from Girona next season, but it remains to be seen if they’ll decide the same with Couto, as Pep Guardiola may well feel he already has very good depth and options in his squad.
Still, the young Brazilian looks like he has a big future in the game and interest from Real Madrid should probably be taken seriously, if it proves accurate, as it could end up being a major error to let this talent move to a major European rival.
