A major update on the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Spanish giants Real Madrid and attacking target Kylian Mbappé has been revealed late this evening.
The info comes courtesy of Marca’s José Félix Díaz, who points towards Mbappé’s arrival in Madrid this summer now looking more likely than ever.
The Frenchman, for his part, will imminently make public one key aspect of his future plans, following the expiration of a verbal agreement between he and Paris Saint-Germain, which saw Mbappé gave his word not to announce his intentions for next season.
With this pact having only run through the end of January, though, the frontman is now expected to confirm that he will not renew his contract in Paris under any circumstances.
This, in turn, will open the door for Real Madrid to enter the fray once more.
Marca tonight revealed that the Blancos brass, surprisingly, had not even reopened internal talks over Mbappé’s potential arrival until this past weekend.
At that point, though, ‘everything changed’.
Florentino Pérez and co, it is understood, have now reached the collective decision to push ahead with bringing the 25-year-old in.
Whilst a sizable contingent of the boardroom in Spain’s capital had previously been sceptical of Mbappé’s arrival owing to his last-minute change of heart two years ago, the time is now viewed as right – from a sporting and financial standpoint – to add yet another Galáctico to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
The Frenchman’s announcement of his departure from PSG will act as the first domino, before Real Madrid pull the trigger on one final decisive assault to secure Mbappé’s signature for the 2024/25 campaign.
