Everton plotting to sign Wolves defender Leander Dendoncker

Everton are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Leander Dendoncker, according to reports.

The Toffees have only signed James Tarkowski on a free transfer so far this summer. However, they are now plotting a move to sign Dendocker, as per Fabrizio Romano

It is said that the Belgian is admired both by Frank Lampard and the club’s board.

The 27-year-old joined the West Midlands outfit in 2018 and has since made 120 appearances in the Premier League.

His current contract at the Molineux Stadium is set to expire in 2023 but the Wanderers have the option to extend it by another year.

Perfect signing for Everton

Leander Dendoncker has been a consistent performer in the English top-flight for Wolves.

He is highly rated for his versatility as he can play as a centre back and is also comfortable in central midfield and defensive midfield.

The 27-year-old has been an important member of the squad over the last four years, playing regularly under both Nuno Espirito Santo and Bruno Lage.

The Belgium international made 29 Premier League appearances last season, scoring two goals and bagging two assists. He also made 1.4 tackles and 1.1 clearances per game in the English top-flight (as per WhoScored).

Everton look in need of midfield reinforcements, with the Merseyside club losing Donny van de Beek and Fabian Delph earlier this summer.

Dendoncker could be a quality addition for the Toffees and they shouldn’t miss out signing him if the transfer fee is reasonable.

Frank Lampard’s side barely managed to stay in the top-flight last season after a series of impressive performances towards the end of the campaign.

They should be aiming to finish higher up the table this season and for that, they need quality additions.
