Eric Dier (31) is close to joining AS Monaco on a free transfer, according to a report from L’Équipe. The Englishman’s contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season.
Monaco are currently fourth in Ligue 1 and in the race to once again qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. All the while, behind the scenes, the club are working on their summer transfer window plans. As revealed by CEO Thiago Scuro in January, adding experience to this young side is a priority.
The Principality club were therefore interested in Jordan Henderson in January before the Englishman opted to remain at Ajax. However, his compatriot is on the verge of joining the club, L’Équipe understands. Dier’s contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season and looks set to join Monaco on a free transfer.
He has played 25 matches for the Bavarian side this season and is capable of playing in defence or midfield.
