Eni Aluko’s Feelings About Roy Keane Look Interesting Amid Ian Wright Row

Eni Aluko has been extremely critical of Ian Wright over the past 12 months, initially accusing the Arsenal icon of ‘blocking’ opportunities for female pundits in the women’s game. Her thoughts on Wright’s close friend, Roy Keane, look interesting now amid the ongoing feud.

Wright, 62, has been a strong advocate of women’s football over the years and is often seen on ITV’s coverage of England’s matches. Aluko, who has worked with the Englishman previously, sparked controversy last year when she claimed Wright was ‘dominating’ the women’s sport.

Laura Woods Has Now Posted a Strong Statement in Response to Eni Aluko’s Latest Comments

She hasn’t held back.

After she attempted to apologise for her comments, and Wright declined, the 38-year-old has gone on the offensive once again this week. This time, Aluko questioned why male pundits, Wright and Nedum Onuoha, were given the spotlight for ITV and BBC Sports for the Women’s Euro 2025 final.

Of the dynamic duo, Keane is often seen as the more confrontational and stand-offish, while Wright is seen as one of the more outgoing and bubbly personalities in British punditry. However, it could now be interpreted that Aluko sees it the other way around.

All three pundits have worked for ITV over the years, meaning Aluko and Keane have been on the same panel a few times. While it was a very rare occasion for them to be on duty for the same game, the ex-Chelsea star has recalled her positive experiences around the legendary Manchester United captain.

Ian Wright’s Response After Eni Aluko Made Mistake Looks Interesting Now

The difference in respect shown between the two pundits says a lot about how well Wrighty conducts himself.

In a 2024 interview with FourFourTwo, Aluko heaped praise on the ‘wonderful man’ Keane is, citing his ‘endearing way’ as a positive influence to be around. Speaking about the former Premier League hardman, she said:

“The other guy I love working with is Roy Keane.

“I don’t get to work with him that often but I just think that he’s such a wonderful man in such an endearing way.”

Aluko continued to say that his angry persona could be misinterpreted. She continued: “People think he’s just this angry, frustrated man but actually, he holds court, he’s very genuine and authentic. I feel as a woman very supported by him. I feel very respected by him – I love Roy Keane.”

After Aluko’s initial outburst against Wright in May last year, Keane made a priceless joke on an episode of The Overlap that left everyone in stitches, Wright included. The topic of criticising managers came up in conversation and the Irishman kicked things off with a level-headed comment.

“That’s the one thing I wouldn’t do. Criticise players – no problem, with managers I’d be (reluctant)… because I’ve been there done it and I know how hard it is,” he said. Jill Scott then chimed in with her thoughts, saying: “I find it hard like I don’t do many of the women’s games and stuff.”

As quick as a flash, Keane jumped back in with a quick-witted remark. Responding to Scott saying she doesn’t do many of the women’s games, he responded: “Because of Ian,” as the room erupted into laughter. Watch the funny moment below.
