Eintracht Frankfurt are in discussions to sign 30-year-old Mario Götze from PSV.
According to Kicker, the Europa League winners face competition from Benfica and MLS side Inter Miami.
Götze has two years remaining on his current deal with PSV but can leave due to an exit clause of around €4m. Roger Schmidt, who left PSV for Benfica, is interested in signing his former player but Eintracht Frankfurt have the advantage that they’re already in the Champions League group stages. SLB need to qualify.
Inter Miami would also be an interesting proposition for financial reasons, but Götze wants to compete in the Champions League. With Filip Kostić and Daichi Kamada entering the final year of their respective contracts at SGE, a move for Götze would be feasible.
Per the report, Götze is unlikely to turn up for pre-season training with PSV, suggesting that talks are advanced and that the former Borussia Dortmund attacker, who played 52 games last season, wants to leave.
