Eduardo Camavinga and Jules Koundé miss France training

Eduardo Camavinga (23) and Jules Koundé (27) were both absent from France’s first-team training session at Clairefontaine on Tuesday, L’Équipe report.

The pair arrived for the evening session at Clairefontaine and signed autographs for fans, but whereas the rest of Les Bleus took part in a session, Camavinga and Koundé trained separately. The pair did laps of the pitch. L’Équipe understands, however, that the pair should still be fit to face Ukraine in the FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday night.

Didier Deschamps’ side can seal their place in next summer’s World Cup (to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico) should they beat Ukraine at the Parc des Princes. Koundé has asserted himself as a key player for France, becoming the first-choice right-back.

Camavinga remains more peripheral, but his biggest asset is his versatility, even if he recently publicly stated that he does not see himself as a left-back, a position he has previously played for the France national team.
