OGC Nice have confirmed that Terem Moffi has suffered an ACL injury that will likely rule him out of the majority of the upcoming Ligue 1 campaign. It is a blow for Le Gym, with the Nigerian international having been set to lead the line for Franck Haise.
In his absence, Nice will turn to Gaëtan Laborde but also to academy product Evann Guessand, who impressed when given the chance under Francesco Farioli last season. However, Nice could be set for another blow. Guessand does not see himself remaining with his formative club, despite rejecting a tentative approach from rivals Olympique de Marseille, according to Nice-Matin.
Guessand would, however, be open to a move abroad, with L’Équipe going so far as to state that the striker wants a move. Ajax, managed by former OGCN manager Francesco Farioli is a potential destination. Unconvinced in talks over a contract extension at Nice, the Ligue 1 club may ask for €20m for their academy product. Moffi’s injury will, however, increase Les Aiglons’ determination to retain the player this summer.
