Since arriving at FC Schalke 04 in winter, Edin Džeko has not only created immeasurable hype on the pitch, but now off it too.
Sport BILD are reporting that the veteran Bosnia & Herzegovina marksman is already paying off his transfer costs in kit sales alone.
According to the popular tabloid, a whopping 10,000 kit sales bearing the name ‘Džeko’ have been snapped up by Schalke supporters.
The Gelsenkirchen side is said to receive approximately €35 per shirt after deducting logistics costs from the overall fee.
This equates to total revenue of €350,000. Even after taxes, €300,000 remains – the base salary Džeko is contractually obligated to receive.
With no transfer fee was paid to his former employers, Fiorentina. Only bonuses could potentially increase beyond what was planned.
Bonuses are awarded for goals or promotion. For promotion, the Bosnian would likely receive a substantial bonus payment of €400,000.
In his three 2.Bundesliga games so far, Džeko netted once against 1.FC Kaiserslautern and a brace in a 2-2 draw with Dynamo Dresden.
