According to WAZ journalist Andreas Ernst, both Loris Karius and Nikola Katic were absent from FC Schalke 04’s team training today.
For defender Katic, who had to cut his training session short yesterday, he is currently undergoing further examinations.
While the team is well-stocked with several centre-half options available, Katic’s absence would still be a significant blow.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Karius trained individually yesterday and not at all today as of Wednesday 11 February.
It remains to be seen whether loanee Kevin Müller will make his Schalke debut on Sunday against Kiel or if Karius will recover in time.
One positive for the Gelsenkirchen outfit is that Janik Bachmann was pictured back in full training on Tuesday morning.
Coach Miron Muslic has often raved about Bachmann this season, saying his versatility is very important for the team.
This season alone, the midfielder has already played as a striker, in the number 10 role and in the defensive number 6 position.
