Drew McIntyre’s Five-Word Tweet After Beating Cody Rhodes For WWE Title

New WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has gone viral with his first tweet following his victory over Cody Rhodes to win the gold on SmackDown.

After years of seeking to regain the biggest prize in the industry, The Scottish Warrior finally achieved his goal by winning his Three Stages of Hell main event against Rhodes in Berlin, Germany.

The first stage of the bout was won by McIntyre after a low-blow not caught by the referee was followed by a Claymore Kick. Rhodes then levelled the contest by taking the Falls Count Anywhere second stage by hitting a Cross Rhodes through the ringside commentary table.

An epic deciding stage followed, this time inside a steel cage. Both Superstars looked to be on the verge of claiming the win multiple times, before Jacob Fatu returned to SmackDown and had a decisive impact on the bout – and the destination of the championship.

‘The Samoan Werewolf’ first appeared to prevent McIntyre from leaving through the cage door. However, he soon got into a separate brawl with Rhodes. As that pair went back-and-forth, Drew seized his opportunity to sneak out of the structure and win the WWE Championship for the first time in nearly five years.

Drew’s previous WWE Championship victories came during the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning that he had never raised the gold in front of a live audience. Even his World Heavyweight Championship triumph over Seth Rollins lasted just a matter of minutes, before he lost the title thanks to a Money In The Bank cash-in.

McIntyre’s Viral Tweet After Win Over Rhodes on WWE SmackDown

Taking to Twitter immediately after his win, McIntyre shared a black and white photo of himself backstage in the German capital, with his newly-acquired championship over his shoulder. He captioned the image: “No longer bored at work”.

That caption is a play on two viral tweets that the Scotsman sent in 2024. The second of those posts saw him live-tweet during his WrestleMania 41 match with Damian Priest, where he shared a photo of himself mid-bout, writing: “Still bored at work lol”.

Drew and Cody have been feuding over the WWE Championship for months, with McIntyre losing a number of title matches. However, the 40-year-old would land a final shot at the company’s biggest prize after interrupting a match between Rhodes and Oba Femi at Saturday’s Night’s Main Event.

The result has shaken up the main event scene on SmackDown in a major way as the company heads towards the 2026 Royal Rumble. McIntyre’s first title defence appears to be set for the Rumble, with his challenger set to be determined in the coming weeks.
