It seems Borussia Dortmund will be without captain Emre Can and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka when they face Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the duo were absent as the Dortmund squad travelled to their team hotel ahead of the crucial clash.
Can was listed as a doubt by head coach Niko Kovac during a press conference on Monday, where he confirmed that the former Liverpool man had missed training due to muscular problems.
The reason behind Chukwuemeka’s absence is unclear, but the Chelsea loanee has struggled with various injuries since arriving in the winter transfer window.
Marcel Sabitzer and Nico Schlotterbeck are also out for the Black and Yellows.
Niko Kovac’s side face a difficult task at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night, needing to overturn a 4-0 deficit from the first leg.
