Dortmund rule out Ryerson exit despite Man Utd & Barcelona links

Borussia Dortmund have ruled out a summer exit for Julian Ryerson despite repeated links to Premier League giants Manchester United and La Liga powerhouse Barcelona.

According to Sport, the Bundesliga club are not considering a transfer and will likely turn down any offers for their highly sought-after right back.

Barca have long been touted as a potential destination for Ryerson. They are keen to bring in a player who can provide competition for Jules Kounde at right back.

The Spanish giants have reportedly held talks with Ryerson’s representatives, although they haven’t formalised their interest with an official proposal.

Man United are also reportedly keeping tabs on Ryerson, who has established himself as a regular starter for Dortmund under Niko Kovac.

The 28-year-old right back has been key to Dortmund’s unlikely Bundesliga title challenge this season. They are six points behind Bayern Munich.

Ryerson has featured 29 times across all competitions for Dortmund, returning an impressive 13 assists.

Eleven of those assists have come in 20 Bundesliga outings, highlighting the defender’s importance in Kovac’s system.

The Norwegian full back has also created a staggering 14 big chances, averaging 1.6 key passes per 90 minutes.

His duel success rate needs improvement, but his attacking contributions have helped Dortmund keep Bayern on their toes at the Bundesliga summit.

Ryerson has two years left on his contract with Dortmund, and the club are under no obligation or immediate pressure to cash in.

However, they’d struggle to keep him at Signal Iduna Park if Barca or Man United decide to act on their interest in him.

United are looking to refresh their defensive options next summer, particularly at right back.

Whatever decision they make will depend on who they appoint as permanent manager, but Ryerson is one of several options on the club’s extensive shortlist.
