On Monday, Borussia Dortmund learned that they will face PSV in the Champions League round of 16.

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl has now reacted to the draw, saying that Dortmund will go into the two games with optimism and confidence, although he knows PSV will be a tough opponent.

“PSV Eindhoven is an attractive and challenging draw. They have won all 16 of their league games with a goal difference of 56-6. At the moment, Eindhoven are the measure of all things in the Netherlands,” Kehl said, adding:

“We are looking forward to a reunion with our former coach Peter Bosz and are very optimistic and confident going into these games. Our clear goal is to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2020/21.”

Back in 2020/21, Dortmund defeated Sevilla in the round of 16 before being knocked out by Manchester City in the quarterfinals.
