Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has provided an update on Sebastien Haller after the striker was diagnosed with a testicular tumor earlier this month.

“Sebastien underwent successful surgery last week,” said Kehl at a press conference today.

“The findings are still being analyzed. The treatment path is being discussed now, there are different paths to take.

“We will certainly be without him for a few months. As soon as we can be a little more concrete, we will communicate further information.”

As for how Dortmund will replace the striker, who joined the club from Ajax earlier this summer, Kehl said:

“We are preparing for different scenarios. We are working on different options and ideas. At the moment, nothing is concrete. We have a relatively tight schedule until November.

“Honestly, I think our squad offers us a lot of possibilities. [Dortmund coach] Edin [Terzic] has a number of options at his disposal. Nevertheless, we may lack the profile that Haller has in terms of height and presence. But we will only do something if it makes sense.”
