German broadcaster “Sport1” reports that Borussia Dortmund are in advanced negotiations with Southampton FC for the purchase of German defender Armel Bella-Kotchap.

In need of an additional central defender following the loan-out of Soumaïla Coulibaly, Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in bringing former VfL Bochum defender Areml Bella-Kotchap back to the Bundesliga. Dortmund have the resources to purchase the 21-year-old from EFL Championship side Southampton FC. German broadcaster reports that a transfer fee of €20 million is being discussed.

The now twice-capped German international is through to wish to return to the Bundesrepublik in order to further his international career. Bella-Kotcfhap did make Hansi Flick’s World Cup squad. He earned regular starts for his EPL side last season, but was unable to help the club avoid relegation from the English top flight. Frankfurt were reported to be interested in acquiring him this summer, yet couldn’t meet Southampton’s fee demands.

Sport1 reporter Patrick Berger reports that talks are in an “advanced stage”.
