Donald Trump has hit back at Hunter Hess after he said it ‘brings up mixed emotions to represent the US’ at the Winter Olympics and that it was ‘a little hard.’
Speaking during a press conference, Hess, a freestyle skier, said: “It’s a little hard [representing the United States]. There’s obviously a lot going on that I’m not the biggest fan of and I think a lot of people aren’t.
“I think for me it’s more I’m representing my friends and family back home and the people that represented before me and all the things that I believe are good about the U.S. If it aligns with my moral values, I feel like I’m representing it. Just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean I represent everything that’s going on in the U.S.”
Donald Trump Hits Back at Hunter Hess
Hess’ comments went viral on social media as they bought about a mixed response. Jake Paul has expressed his anger at the 27-year-old’s comments.
He wrote on social media: “Wow please shut the f*** up. From all true Americans. If you don’t want to represent this country, go live somewhere else.”
UFC fighter Sean Strickland also called out Hess, writing: “Hunter Hess is a b****….. Get the f*** out of this country we don’t want you here…. About to throw some f****** hands…. g** a** skier….. F****** b****…”
United States of America president Donald Trump has now hit out at Hess as he branded him a real loser. Taking to social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“U.S. Olympic Skier, Hunter Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics. If that’s the case, he shouldn’t have tried out for the Team, and it’s too bad he’s on it. Very hard to root for someone like this.”
Bernie Sanders Responds to Trump After He Slams Hunter Hess
Bernie Sanders, United States Senator for Vermont, has now criticised Trump following his post and defended Hess. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 84-year-old wrote:
“Trump called American Olympian Hunter Hess a “real loser” for criticizing what’s happening in our country under Trump. Mr. President, this is not a monarchy. This is the United States and no one is required to bow down to you. Hess is not a “loser.” He’s a proud American.”
