The DFB has contacted Bayern Munich regarding Julian Nagelsmann becoming Germany’s new head coach, according to SportBild.
After Tuesday’s friendly with France, the DFB will seek to announce their new head coach as soon as possible.
As per the report, DFB Vice-President Hans-Joachim Watzke has contacted Bayern Munich to discuss the release of Julian Nagelsmann, who is still on the club’s payroll.
Bayern are willing to release Nagelsmann for free in order for the DFB to potentially sign the head coach. The federation also asked the Bayern board if they believed he would be a good fit for the national side.
One question mark for the DFB is Nagelsmann’s age and possible inexperience. At 36 years old, Nagelsmann would be one of, if not the youngest, head coach at next year’s European Championship in Germany.
With Bayern wavering a fee for their ex-head coach, the process of potentially making Nagelsmann the next Germany head coach could be in motion.
