Thomas Delaney’s six-month loan-out to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is official. The 31-year-old will join Danish compatriots Robert Skov, Jacob Bruun Larsen, and Kasper Dolberg in Sinsheim. After purchasing former VfL Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin standout John Anthony Brooks last week, Germany’s Kraichgauer have brought two former Bundesliga regulars back to German football during the current window.
“Thomas has proven at all his previous stations that he is a real leader,” TSG manager Alexander Rosen said in reference to the former SV Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund midfielder, “With his way of playing football and his qualities as a leader, he brings important components that we are, unfortunately, rather lacking at the moment due to injuries and other issues.”
“I’m delighted to be here in Hoffenheim and back in the Bundesliga,” Delaney is quoted as saying on the club’s website, “I want to play my part in ensuring that we are successful again together as TSG.”
Hoffenheim presently find themselves in a torrid run-of-form, having gone winless in their last eight fixtures. Delaney will presumably be available for Hoffenheim’s next match; a round-of-16 Pokal tie at RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
