Barcelona sporting director Deco has on Wednesday provided an insight into the fee which the club ultimately paid out for Vitor Roque.
Frontman Roque, of course, made the move to Catalunya’s capital in January of this year, from his home country of Brazil.
The youngster arrived in La Liga amid sky-high expectations, widely considered to be one of South American’s standout up-and-coming talents.
Safe to say, however, that things did not exactly work out as hoped for Roque.
After struggling badly for game-time under the watch of Xavi, the 19-year-old also failed to convince replacement Hansi Flick, culminating in Roque being farmed out on loan to Real Betis.
And such woes, it has since been confirmed, saw the fee paid out by Barcelona to Athletico Paranaense kept to an absolute minimum.
Speaking during an interview with Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday, the aforementioned Deco was drawn on the final sum forked over for Roque’s signature.
And the Blaugrana chief went on to explain:
“Vitor Roque cost €30M, not €60M because no variables have been met as he hasn’t won titles with us nor reached a specific percentage of games, so it’s only €30M.”
