Former Bayern Munich star David Alaba is currently playing for Real Madrid. He is pushing to bring his close friend and former teammate, Alphonso Davies, to join him at the Spanish giants.
According to Sky Germany, Alaba has been advocating for Davies’ potential signing by Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have shown keen interest in the talented Canadian international as they search for a top-class left-back.
The 22-year-old and his agent Nedal Huoseh were in talks with former Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic over a new deal.
But Bayern dismissed Salihamidzic after their Bundesliga win, forcing Huoseh to step back and re-evaluate.
However, the likelihood of a deal materialising this summer seems slim. Bayern Munich remain adamant that Davies is not for sale. They are standing firm in their position.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid have Davies on their wishlist. If they cannot sign him this summer, they will pursue the transfer in 2024.
Davies has faced playing time challenges during the latter half of the season due to niggling injuries.
Despite this setback, the rapid wing-back contributed significantly, featuring in 38 games across all competitions, scoring twice and providing eight assists.
Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has emphasised Davies’ importance to his plans for the upcoming Bundesliga season.
Despite the imminent signing of Raphael Guerreiro, Davies will have a consistent role within the team.
If they cannot sign Davies replicate this summer, Real Madrid will likely return next summer.
The words of encouragement from his friend Alaba could potentially give Real Madrid an edge if Davies decides to pursue a move in the future.
As it stands, Davies’ current contract with Bayern Munich extends until June 2025. The club wants to retain him for the foreseeable future but must open talks with him soon.
However, in the ever-evolving landscape of football transfers, the allure of Real Madrid and the persuasive powers of Alaba could set the stage for an exciting saga.
