There is full confidence in Iñaki Peña as Marc-André ter Stegen’s replacement at Barcelona, but, with the German goalkeeper set to undergo surgery, the club is considering signing another shot-stopper to compete with Iñaki Peña between the sticks. Two possible options for the Blaugrana are currently available as free agents.
AS report via Sport, that David de Gea, 33, who has been free since the summer, and has been linked with clubs such as Inter Miami and Newcastle, is a possibility. The Madrid-born former Manchester United player would, however, have to adapt to the salary limits of fair play.
The other option is Sergio Asenjo. The 34-year-old former Real Valladolid netminder has experience in La Liga, but the question mark over him is his physical condition due to previous injuries to both knees.
