Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has spoken out on the possibility of Gavi being called up for the club’s next outing.
This comes as the youngster continues to ramp up his efforts to return to the pitch.
Gavi has of course been sidelined since all the way back in September, after being forced back under the knife to solve an ongoing knee issue.
Recent weeks have seen the Spanish international take significant strides forward in his comeback endeavours, linking back up with the rest of Barcelona’s squad in first-team training.
Such developments had given rise to suggestions that Gavi could even be called up for the Blaugrana’s Copa del Rey semi-final 2nd-leg showdown with Atlético Madrid this coming week.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s La Liga victory over Villarreal on Saturday, the subject of his midfield starlet’s status was therefore put to Hansi Flick.
The German tactician, however, moved to play down the situation, in assuring:
“It’s a little too early for Gavi. He will not come back against Atlético.”
