Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will be impressed with how quickly the club managed to complete the signing of Ivan Perisic, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
Within two weeks of identifying the Croatia international as a potential summer arrival, the 33-year-old was announced as Spurs’ first signing before the transfer window even officially opened.
What’s the latest news involving Conte?
Historically under Daniel Levy, Tottenham wait until the end of the window to get their business over the line.
That was highlighted by deals for Dejan Kulusevski, and Rodrigo Bentancur not being confirmed until deadline day in January.
But Perisic’s arrival could be a sign of things to come under the Italian, who’s quickly beginning to stamp his authority on the football club.
On 20 May, ESPN reported that Tottenham were ‘exploring the possibility’ of signing the versatile attacker on a free transfer, even though Juventus were leading the race for his signature.
Despite the Old Lady’s interest in Perisic, the north London outfit acted quickly and announced the ex-Bayern Munich loanee as their first addition of the window on a two-year contract 11 days later.
As a result, O’Rourke believes that Conte must surely be happy with how swiftly the club got the deal over the line.
What did O’Rourke say about Conte?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Conte’s got to be impressed with that. I know Antonio Conte would want all of his targets signed before pre-season starts, so he can have his full squad in fact from the get-go but getting Perisic in on a free transfer looks a good piece of business by Tottenham and definitely shows they’re backing Conte in this window.”

Are Tottenham close to completing any more business?
According to the Telegraph, the Spurs boss wants six new signings as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Premier League and Champions League.
Having ticked Perisic off the list, it’s onto the next for Tottenham, who are on the verge of signing another player in Fraser Forster.
The experienced goalkeeper recently underwent a medical at Hotspur Way, although there has been a delay in him officially joining the club.
But transfer guru Fabrizio Romano believes the England international will replace Pierluigi Gollini as Hugo Lloris’ backup and has agreed a two-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with an announcement set to arrive in the ‘coming days’ having recently completed the paperwork.
