Conte has ‘unique’ £10m star ‘on his list’ at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Wolves winger Adama Traore this summer as competition at wing-back, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook

Antonio Conte has rung the changes at Hotspur Way this summer ahead of the 2022-23 season getting under way but the Italian may still have some more tricks up his sleeve.

What is the latest transfer news from Tottenham?

It has been a busy summer for the Lilywhites after breaking back into the Champions League ahead of the upcoming season, with six new faces arriving.

Richarlison has been brought in to add competition for the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski. Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have both signed on free transfers while Djed Spence did enough on loan with Nottingham Forest to earn a big-money move.

Clement Lenglet has arrived from Barcelona for the upcoming season while Yves Bissouma has also been added to the midfield.

As things stand, just over £90 million has been splashed on new recruits but that figure could still break the £100 million mark before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

One name that could still arrive is rapid Wolves winger Traore with the Spaniard apparently available for as little as £10 million this summer.

While he is an attacker by trade, he has previously filled in at right wing-back at Molineux under both Nuno Espirito Santo and Bruno Lage, so could he have a similar role to play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

What has Crook said about the move?

Crook understands that the 26-year-old remains on the list of targets at Tottenham, with the club previously targeting him this year.

The talkSPORT reporter also says his role would be as competition to Matt Doherty and Spence for that right wing-back role.

Crook told GIVEMESPORT: “The other name that I’ve been told that is still on their list is Adama Traore, to add some right wing-back competition.”

Should Tottenham sign Traore this summer?

Following the signing of Spence from Middlesbrough, there is arguably not a desperate need for Traore to join the fray at Tottenham as well.

Spence showed he can provide that attacking threat as he helped Forest to promotion last season, as the 21-year-old scored three goals and provided five assists.

Doherty too had an impressive return to form last season, ending the campaign with two goals and three assists in just six games.

But with Traore potentially available for just £10 million, it is a deal that could be worth the gamble, if only to attain the player’s “unique” abilities from the bench.
