Conor McGregor Submits Training Partner Twice in Leaked Sparring Video

Conor McGregor submitted a sparring partner twice in new training footage that has been leaked online.

The former two-weight UFC champion has not fought since suffering a horrific leg break injury at the end of the first round of his third fight with Dustin Poirier. He has been linked with a return to the Octagon, and even had a lightweight fight against Michael Chandler scheduled for the 29th of June in 2024, but withdrew from the fight with little more than a month to go, citing a broken pinky toe. By the time he could fight once again, if indeed he ever does compete in the UFC once more, it could, in theory, be four years since the Poirier loss.

With McGregor back in training, and looking it sharp, it raises questions as to whether ‘Notorious’ is plotting a comeback — be it in MMA, or in boxing.

Conor McGregor Submits Sparring Partner

In the near five-minute footage, McGregor can be seen grappling and wrestling with an unknown training partner, catching his leg, and manipulating him into various positions in slow, methodical, procedures. McGregor attempts a leg sweep, wrist control, and eventually both find their way to the mat. Not before long, McGregor gains top position, gains control of his partner’s wrist, and later applies his submissions.

McGregor has been linked with a comeback, albeit in boxing against Logan Paul, rather than in the UFC. And so the techniques seen above won’t be any use in a boxing-rules fight — whether that’s an official one that counts on both records, or an exhibition.

The Irishman and Logan may seem unlikely dance partners, but it is reportedly an event that financiers in India want to see materialize. McGregor said as much on X, formerly Twitter, earlier in the month.

“I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”

A date has not yet been mentioned.

Logan Paul, meanwhile, has found critical acclaim in WWE and said in a recent YouTube video that one of his three goals for 2025 is to become a champion in that organization. Though he made no mention of a boxing fight, he did “wink wink” the speculation, as if to hint that there is substance to the rumors of a bout with McGregor.
