Our colleagues at Foot Mercato are reporting that Ligue 1 side Clermont are in advanced talks to sign 20-year-old right-sided player Lamine Cissé from newly relegated to the French 4th tier outfit AS Nancy Lorraine.
Cissé achieved a strong 2022/23 campaign despite ASNL being relegated from National 1, achieving 4 goals and 2 assists in 29 league appearances for the club.
The 2003-born France U19s international is attracting interest from Ligue 1 outfit Clermont Foot and Dutch 1st division club Utrecht. But it is Pascal Gastien’s Ligue 1 outfit that lead the way to sign the player, with talks understood to be at an advanced status between all the relevant parties.
The right-winger played for the France U19s during EURO 2022, making it to the semi-finals before losing to Israel 2-1. Under contract with ASNL until June 2024, Nancy are being forced into a fire-sale of club assets in a bid to prevent the Pacific Media Group-owned entity from going bankrupt.
In Cissé, Gastien’s Clermont are poised to pick up another rough diamond talent at low-cost.
