Atlético Madrid have put in an offer for Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, according to L’Équipe. The 25-year-old French striker has 13 goals in the Bundesliga this season, and has been one of Mönchengladbach’s standout performers. Thuram will be a free agent when his contract expires this summer, and many clubs in Europe including Manchester United, and both Milan clubs, are looking at him.
Thuram has been at Mönchengladbach since 2019, playing 133 times for the German club. His next transfer will be his first big move, and at the age of 25, may allow him to announce himself to the world. Atlético in many ways seem the perfect fit. The future of João Félix is up in the air, and Diego Simeone has never managed to extract the best from the Portuguese star. Álvaro Morata has a contract for another year, but he has either constantly been in out and of the team, or sent on loan. Thuram could revitalise the Atlético frontline, and playing with Antoine Griezmann, who has had a superb season, Atlético might pose a title threat next season.
